We will be running an existing model (estuarine Bayesian Network developed by the marine ecology team) for 6 Hawke's bay estuaries.

  • This project will evaluate water quality, stream flow, and LiDAR data, which will be provided by Otago Regional Council, to produce a suitability map identifying the location of a constructed wetland in the Mill Creek / Lake Hayes catchment.

  • This project is for GIS services to Meridian Energy to support reconsenting of the Waitaki Power Scheme. At this point we don't know exactly what will be generated, but generally the work will include:• Supporting other technical specialists to undertake GIS based evaluations and present results and maps• Supporting Meridian to prepare and present material for Stakeholder Engagement purposes• Support Meridian preparing and presenting maps and images for its application and expert evidence.

  • Spatial predictions of benthic invertebrate fauna abundance across Campbell Plateau, generated using models developed under the precursor project ZBD2016-11. The dataset will include separate predictions for 20 individual taxa and generated using Random Forests, plus two whole-community predictions (using Gradient Forests and Regions of Common Profile methods), which will be in the form of (1) spatial gradients of taxon turnover and (2) spatial classifications of community type at a number of different class-levels.

  • To be determined. Videos tackling a particular weather or climate topic will be created as part of an ongoing outreach series ("Weather Tips from Weather Nerds) shared on our digital platforms. Also, time lapse video recordings from our time lapse camera network (Bream Bay, Auckland, Wellington, Nelson, Lauder and soon coming, Christchurch) shared on our digital platforms, as well as with our external partners. Recordings of live stream videos shared on our digital platforms where we communicate expected (or past) weather/climate conditions.

  • Maps generated to support the Assessment of Environmental Effects of the Waitaki Power Scheme as requested by Meridian Energy Limited and topic specialists involved in writing technical appendices to the AEE.

This is a proposal concept to be developed upon direct invitation from the World Bank. The idea is to develop models of hazard impacts in selected Pacific island countries - most likely Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu (although PICs are yet to be confirmed). The expected outcome would be improved post disaster impact estimates.Impact estimates would likely be in the form of damage estimates (scale and type), replacement values, number of people affected/ injured, disaggregated by sex, age and gender.

  • Seafloor video transect data collected using a Boxfish ROV deployed from the vessel Tranquil Image, saved as electronic files for the Ports of Auckland dredge disposal site
