New data will be acquired using high frequency hyperspectral in-situ spectrometers (focused on nitrate-N), multivariable sondes, high frequency turbidity (surrogate for suspended sediment concentrations), and high frequency data derived from analysis of microbial surrogate(s).Historical high frequency hyperspectral data have been acquired from external agencies (with permission limiting the use of these data to in-house assessment and proof of concept assessment, which requires limiting access to these data to named NIWA personnel).Data will be acquired/derived from several locations. These data will be paired with laboratory-measured water quality data (where available), flow data (where available).Ideally these data would be in a database of some sort

  • A combination of models describing cultural, social, economic and environmental consequences of interventions to manage land and water resources

  • This project is still in the planning stage. If successful, the model will be used to estimate contaminant loads from urban areas in Tauranga.

  • Using Power B.I. to generate dashboards to assemble existing data into one place or dateset - still very unknown?

This dataset will comprise- the two-dimensional numerical morphodynamic models, - the simulation outputs, and- the post-processing toolsused to study the dynamics of sediment transport in confined braided rivers.

Marine biogeochemical data collected by DSIR (NZOI, Taupo Research Laboratory) and NIWA, including information on marine particulates (PC, POC, PN, PP, chlorophyll), nutrients and marine biota (bacteria, phytoplankton, microzooplankton, mesozooplankton) throughout the NZ EEZ and including the Ross Dependency

  • NIWA collects large volumes of boat ramp interview data on paper forms every year, and the time, expense and delays associated with entering these data into FNZ’s Rec_data database are considerable. The NIWA software development team have been developing of an android recreational boat ramp interview survey app, which will completed under this task. An image based fishing location entry module will be developed and tested as part of this task, so the app can be deployed and field tested by a small number of interviewers, before it is rolled out nationally.

  • Data from the planned 2021 toheroa survey of beaches in Te Waewae Bay (Main Bluecliffs Beach, Bluecliffs west, and Orepuki). Data will consist of numbers and length of toheroa, and substrate type, by quadrat (1x0.5 m2) along transects from high to low water. Positions of the transects and stratum boundaries will be included (i.e., latitudes and longitudes, WGS 84). Data may also include beach profile GIS data collected using RTK.
