Distribution of dominant sediment types within the Tasman Bay-Golden Bay.
GeoTIFF of the distribution of dominant sediment types within the Tasman Bay-Golden Bay. This represents a digitised version of the Tasman Sediments chart (Mitchell 1987).
Sediment samples were collected during N.Z. Oceanographic Institute cruises during 1959–83 and Fisheries Research Division (MAF) surveys in 1982–84.
Different grain size classes are identified and each class is separated into non-calcareous (<50% calcium carbonate) and calcareous (>50% calcium carbonate) groups.
