Sampling sites are spread throughout the region to provide good geographical cover and are also at popular recreational sites. Sampling frequency = Weekly; every Monday (20weeks) over the summer period (Nov to Mar). 2 sites sampled fortnightly. Sampling began in 1998 and is ongoing. Number of sites = 25 total. Number of replicates = 1 per site. Measured variables = Water quality: conductivity (at brackish sites only), temperature, Enterococci, faecal coliforms (NZ Labs - APHA 9230C mE) and turbidity.
